The seasonally adjusted index of value sales also saw a decline of 0.1 per cent in the month-on-month series, while the volume dropped by 0.9 per cent in February 2023. In the three months to February 2023 value of sales was up 1.4 per cent, whereas volume of sales decreased by 0.6 per cent when compared with the previous three-month period.
The value of retail trade in Italy increased for the 24th consecutive month, rising 5.8 per cent in February 2023 compared to the same period last year.
However, the volume of sales dropped by 3.5 per cent.
Online sales increased by 5.6 per cent, while non-food products saw growth in all sectors.
Large-scale distribution saw an 8.2 per cent increase.
In February 2023, when compared with the same month a year earlier, large-scale distribution was up 8.2 per cent, small-scale distribution increased by 3.5 per cent, and non-store retail sales was up 2.9 per cent, as per Istat.
Online sales rose by 5.6 per cent in February 2023 when compared with February 2022.
Looking at the value of sales for non-food products, all sectors experienced growth.
