[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] I spent some time yesterday at the revamped Trish McEvoy counter in Selfridges with Jay (PR) and Sara, the counter manager and expert, who joined Trish four years after her mum did – what a team! They’ve both been with the brand for many years. I did a little film for Instagram so you can flick over there if you want to see it HERE. The thing with this brand is that it’s customer first – the counter is really quite private for a department store floor. Personally, I really don’t like the visibility of most counters – nobody needs to see me being swatched for colours or having all my make up taken off. Plus, if you’re new to make-up (at any age), it’s the perfect place to be taught what to do. Minimalism is Trish’s forte so it’s an ideal starting point.

I brought a few things home with me – first and foremost the Beauty Balm Cream which I don’t think I’ve tried before. It’s SPF35 and gives light to medium coverage. For my skin, at the moment, it’s just a bit less glowy than I’d like – a glow version would be most welcome here – but that’s easily countered with a dewy blush. The product which blew me away is the Beauty Booster & Illuminate Cream HERE which I’d wear under (or even over, because it works that way too) the BB to give it a bit more glow but it literally gives life to the skin on your face. I don’t have it here at the moment but it’s on its way. I’m showing the Beauty Booster Lip & Cheek Balm which I am sure I have seen before but it’s one of those instant smoothers – I used it on my lips and they looked immediately softer. It’s matte so you can use it under any gloss or lipstick.

In the swatch here it’s the BB in Shade 1, the Lip & Cheek balm which goes on colourless, Arabian Nights Gel Liner (which I utterly love – there are some new shades which I’ll cover in a later post but this is a delicious metallic dark blue), and the genius understatement gloss in Mulberry. It’s clever because it gives the lightest wash of colour with a slightly grey undertone that gives your lips a blessed look rather than full on pigment. Ideal on a no make up day to make your face ‘like me but better’.

Given that this is taken early morning in a draining cold light, I think it shows the magic of this make up! Trish McEvoy is a premium brand so it’s priced accordingly – the BB is £65 HERE (I’m swapping between Liberty and Selfridges because stock is variable – deeper tone available at Selfridges, lighter at Liberty and nobody knows why), the Lip & Cheek is £28 HERE, Mulberry isn’t on line at the moment (I’ll update in my next Trish post but they definitely have it at counter) and Arabian Nights is £22 HERE. They’re out of stock of their best seller, Aubergine just now. If make up application is your nemesis, book to see Sara – my advice at any counter is to take the very basics first time around – base and blush – and then build on that once you’re confident. If you want to book, I’ve got the Liberty phone number but you can make your appointment at either – (0)20 8159 6530.
