Industrial producer prices rose by 4 per cent in the euro area and by 3.7 per cent in the European Union (EU) in July this year compared with June, according to estimates from Eurostat, the EU statistical office. The rise was 37.9 per cent in the euro area and by 37.8 per cent in the EU compared with July last year. In June, prices rose by 1.3 per cent in the euro area and by 1.5 per cent in the EU.

Industrial producer prices in the energy sector in the euro area in July this year increased by 9 per cent over the June figure. Prices in total industry, excluding energy, increased by 0.6 per cent.

In the EU, industrial producer prices in the energy sector increased by 8.2 per cent in July over the June figure. Prices in total industry, excluding energy, increased by 0.6 per cent.

The highest monthly increases in industrial producer prices were recorded in Ireland (26.1 per cent), Hungary (9.4 per cent) and Bulgaria (8 per cent), while the largest decreases were observed in Portugal (minus 1.5 per cent), Sweden (minus 1.2 per cent) and Luxembourg (minus 0.9 per cent).

Industrial producer prices in the energy sector in the euro area in July increased by 97.2 per cent compared with July last year. Prices in total industry, excluding energy, increased by 15.1 per cent.

In the EU, industrial producer prices in the energy sector increased by 96.2 per cent in July year over year (YoY). Prices in total industry, excluding energy, increased by 15.7 per cent.

The highest YoY increases were registered in Romania (67.4 per cent), Bulgaria (55.9 per cent) and Denmark (55.1 per cent).
