The consumer price index (CPI) in the Netherlands was 7.6 per cent higher in January this year than in the same month last year, according to Statistics Netherlands (CBS). In December, the inflation rate was 9.6 per cent. The energy price cap in particular caused inflation to fall. The price development of apparel also had a downward effect on inflation.

Apparel was 9.4 per cent more expensive than in January 2022. In December, the year-on-year increase for apparel was 12.3 per cent.
