Common Signs of an Ill-Fitting Bra

Many women unknowingly wear the wrong bra size, and the most common signs are often right in front of you enlisted.

  1. Wrinkles forming within the cups
  2. At the breast sides underwire poking
  3. A band that moves upward
  4. Cups Spillage
  5. Straps that slide down
  6. A bra that rises when you raise your arms

If you notice any of the above issues, then it is time for a new bra purchase. Below are the steps you need to follow to find the right size while sitting at home.

Steps on How to Find the Correct Bra Size

A) Determine for Bra Band Size

  1. Grab a soft measuring tape to determine your bra band size. Wearing a non-padded bra or just a regular bralette is important to ensure accurate measurements.
  2. Maintain a straight posture with your arms at your sides. Keep your posture relaxed, and don’t pull the measuring tape too tight.
  3. Take the measuring tape and wrap it snugly around your ribcage, right under your bust. Parallelise it with the ground.
  4. Once you have the measurement, round it to the nearest whole inch. When the number is even, it is the size of the band. In cases where there is an odd number, add an inch to calculate the right band size.

For example, if your underbust measurement is 30.5 inches, round it up to 31 inches, and that would be your band size.

B) Determining Your Bust Size

Measure around the fullest part of your bust. Let’s say it measures 35.5 inches; round this measurement to the nearest inch for your bust size, which would be 36 inches.

C) Calculating Your Cup Size

Subtract your band size (31 inches) from your bust size (36 inches): 36 inches – 31 inches = 5 inches. This difference helps you figure out your cup size. A 5-inch difference corresponds to a DD cup size. For this cup size knowledge, you can reference any online chart specifically made for this.

D) Refining Your Bra Size with a Sizing Chart

Consult a bra sizing chart with your band size (31 inches) and cup size (DD) to determine your final bra size. The result would be 31DD.

How to Ensure that You Have Calculated the Right Fit

  1. Try on bras in your calculated size, which is 31DD.
  2. Pay attention to comfort, support, and a snug, but not too tight, fit.
  3. Make adjustments to the straps and band if needed.

Move around to ensure it remains comfortable for all-day wear. For a bra that feels too tight or loose, consider experimenting with different band and cup sizes until you discover the perfect fit.
