The total number of truck trips carrying goods reached 903, transporting goods worth about 683 million yuan. A truck leaving from Chongqing and crossing the border via the land checkpoint of Mohan in Yunnan province arrives in Vientiane, Laos, in about four days, covering a distance of approximately 2,800 km. Before the introduction of the cross-border highway freight service, it required around a month for cargo to arrive in ASEAN countries via water transport.
The cross-border highway freight service was launched in April 2016 to promote trade between western China and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), by offering safe and timely delivery of goods.
