Aveda Scalp Solutions Overnight Renewal Serum Review

Must read

[ad_1]

[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] It’s funny (not) that this product is being sold as a defence against ‘premature scalp ageing’ when in actual fact, it stands very well on its own two feet as a general scalp soother. My scalp (sorry for the upcoming overshare) has been an absolute mess – literally such big flake masses that they feel like scabs. I’m pouring anything and everything onto it in the hopes of bringing it back around. I am convinced that it’s connected with the hair shedding which in turn I am convinced is a side effect of Covid.

Aveda Scalp Solutions Overnight Renewal Serum Review

I’ve been very impressed with the Aveda Scalp Solutions Overnight Renewal Serum – it feels fresh on application and is easy to apply by just dotting small drops over the scalp through the hair. It doesn’t leave any residue and a night time application means it can just quietly do its work while you sleep. I think reading between the lines ‘scalp ageing’ could be translated as scalp dryness, whether it’s sensitivity or lack of suppleness. I’m less sceptical about microbiomes when it comes to scalps – something is clearly disrupted with mine and I’m welcoming the ferment this contains to add some healthy bacteria to it. It also contains ectoin which I am seeing crop up a lot – it’s a great hydrator, while hyaluronic acid backs it up.  Ginger root gives the immediate cooling feel – it’s a little bit spicy and in fact, made me think perhaps the formula contains some sort of enzymatic exfoliator which it doesn’t seem to do (although there is a separate product with salicylic acid which does HERE). Soothing comes via Tiger Grass which sits very nicely in the top five ingredients.

Aveda Scalp Solutions Overnight Renewal Serum Review

I’m always impressed with something that works very quickly – this definitely gave an overnight moisture bath to my scalp and I could feel the difference. On checking brand stats, one use equals 51% improvement in scalp hydration and gets incrementally higher the more you use it. It smells pleasant too – citrus and lavender – so the only thing I don’t love about this is the price – £42. I’ve checked across the internet and while it is cheaper at Sephora (slightly), on the Aveda site, postage is free over £40 so it just qualifies, and you get two free samples, so it seems to be the better option. It’s HERE, and the exfoliating treatment which I will try this week is from £12 HERE. Oh, I forgot to mention the brush! It’s £27 HERE and should be used as a scalp stimulator, massager and exfoliator. I love it but am being extremely gentle with it just pressing to my head and wiggling it rather than getting down to it properly. Those bristles are sharp enough to create a tingle and feel like your head skin is getting some proper, worthwhile attention.
