The cotton yarn market in North India is still showing a bearish tone today as prices continue to decline. In Ludhiana, prices have fallen by ₹2 per kg, while in Delhi and Panipat, prices have remained stable. Overall, buyers were cautious about fresh buying in north India, as a decline in cotton prices discouraged buyers who were expecting yarn prices to ease. 

Cotton yarn prices further eased by ₹2 per kg in Ludhiana after a decline in the natural fibre, with slower demand putting pressure on stockists and traders to reduce prices. “Cotton yarn prices further came down because of limited buying. North India’s cotton yarn market is bearish, with prices continuing to decline. Prices have dropped in Ludhiana, while they are stable in Delhi and Panipat. Buyers are cautious about fresh buying, as a decline in cotton prices has discouraged them from expecting yarn prices to ease. Slower demand is putting pressure on stockists and traders to reduce prices.

In Ludhiana, 30 count cotton combed yarn was sold lower by ₹2 at ₹280-290 per kg (GST inclusive); 20 and 25 count combed yarn were traded at ₹270-280 per kg and ₹275-285 per kg respectively; and carded yarn of 30 count was noted at ₹260-270 per kg, according to Fibre2Fashion’s market insight tool TexPro. 

Delhi’s cotton yarn market remained stable with buyers being cautious due to slow demand from consumers. A trader from the Delhi market told F2F, “Buyers were buying only to fulfil their immediate needs. The downstream industry was not confident about demand from consumers. Since cotton prices are unlikely to increase in the near future, buyers were not in a hurry.” 

In Delhi, 30 count combed yarn was traded at ₹285-290 per kg (GST extra), while 40 count combed yarn was sold at ₹315-320 per kg. Similarly, 30 count carded yarn was noted at ₹266-270 per kg, and 40 count carded yarn was sold at ₹295-300 per kg, as per TexPro. 

Panipat’s recycled yarn market was also steady due to sluggish demand, with the home furnishing market running in an off-peak season till June. A trade source from Panipat said that demand was not expected to pick up for the next few months. In this market, 10s recycled PC yarn (grey) was traded at ₹88-92 per kg (GST extra), while 10s recycled PC yarn (black) was traded at ₹60-65 per kg. 20s recycled PC yarn (grey) and 30s recycled PC yarn (Grey) were sold at ₹105-110 per kg and ₹150-155 per kg respectively. Comber prices were noted at ₹155-160 per kg, while recycled polyester fibre (PET bottle fibre) was sold at ₹74-77 per kg. 

Overall, North India’s cotton prices have eased today after a decline in ICE cotton and crude oil. In upper Rajasthan, cotton prices have fallen by ₹25 per maund of 37.2 kg, with the natural fibre being sold at ₹500 lower on a candy of 356 kg. Cotton prices in Punjab and Haryana were noted at ₹6,100-6,200 per maund, while in upper Rajasthan, it was sold at ₹6,300-6,375 per maund. Cotton was sold at ₹58,500-60,500 per candy of 356 kg in lower Rajasthan. The arrival of cotton in North India was estimated at 15,000 bales of 170 kg.
