Lorpen, the Spanish brand for outdoor technical socks, has presented its winter 2023 collection to its sales network at its factory in Etxalar, Navarre. In this collection, the company has converted conventional fibres to eco fibres, with the use of the new threads in its Wintersports line, in which the look of the socks has also been renewed.

If one model had to be highlighted in this collection for the degree of sustainable innovation used for the product it would be the T3+ Biowarmer, which is the top of the line in technicity (T3+) and is now made with biodegradable textiles. To achieve that Lorpen has combined the Sensil BioCare textile with PrimaloftBio as a filling. The seams are also made with Sensil BioCare used as thread, while the cuff has been made with chlorine free wool. Thus, during its useful life the socks help the wearer suffer less in extreme cold conditions, either while doing an activity or at rest. And after its useful life it will never become trash, because its biodegradable. Furthermore, it is very warm and supple. There will be three T3+ Biowarmer models for next winter: Inferno Expedition Crew and Overcalf in the outdoor segment, and Ski in Wintersports, the company said in a press release.

Lorpen was the first brand to use three layers of different threads in a single sock (T3 technology). That was later on combined with the SLS-Selective Layer System technology, which is a system of layers in strategic areas depending on the activity the user is going to do and under what conditions. That makes it possible to get the maximum performance from each thread for the maximum benefit to the athlete’s foot. The company was also a pioneer in using flat seems in the toe with the stitch by stitch sewing, which is something only the brand can do at its plant in Etxalar. That’s a lot of engineering applied to a sock and the outcome is high transpirability, strength and good fit, preventing the formation of blisters. It’s also significant that the brand designs and manufactures all its socks at its factory in Etxalar, Navarre.
