On the concluding day of the Confederation of Indian Textile Industry’s (CITI) third Global Textiles Conclave (GTC), Darshana Vikram Jardosh, minister of state for textiles and railways, was the guest of honour in the valedictory session. In her special address, she said that the event was held at an opportune time when India is presiding over G20 and there is an underlying opportunity for India to contribute towards matters of global importance, with textiles being one of those.

Speaking at the event, the minister also emphasised the need for businesses to constantly innovate their business models and supply chains by adopting new technologies to meet the emerging needs of many of its important markets. The minister congratulated CITI for organising the event and hoped that CITI would continue its work toward promoting sustainability in India, the organisation said in a press release.

CITI secretary general said that the fourth edition of GTC will be held in Ahmedabad in February 2024. SAG president Ripple Patel confirmed that associations like Assocham and SGCI will take part in the next GTC edition.

He also congratulated all the winners of the CITI Textile Sustainability Awards for their outstanding performance and urged the Indian textile industry to adopt sustainable practices in the long run.

A vote of thanks was proposed by Rakesh Mehra, deputy chairman, CITI.

“The next edition of our annual event will be organised, along with the Spinners Association Gujarat (SAG) and other regional textile associations at Ahmedabad in the second week of February 2024,” said Chandrima Chatterjee, CITI secretary general after opening a curtain raiser for the upcoming fourth edition of the GTC.
