[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] I don’t know why I got a vision of Hong Kong Phooey when I started to write about this lip balm but it is the very epitome of a mild mannered janitor by day and number one super guy by night. It looks ever so uninteresting and I don’t think, if it hadn’t been sent, that I’d ever pull it off the shelf, especially at £25 for 7ml.
But, it is an absolutely divine balm that halted my lip dryness in its tracks. I think any barrier will help your lips from losing moisture but ILIA Lip Wrap Reviving Balm is ‘stiff’ enough to stay on for a good period of time whereas many balms need very regular reapplication. The downside of that is that it is quite hard to squeeze from the tube – something to note if you have any mobility or strength issues in your arms. I imagine that during warmer months this won’t be an issue – Lanolips is the same in that it reacts to external temperatures in terms of texture.
Main ingredients are Diisostearyl Malate which is interesting as a base for a balm because you mainly see it crop up in lipsticks, prickly pear oil and squalane, plus the usual suspects of coconut and castor seed oils. There is an overnight version but I have used this as a night lip mask and because of the hold it works perfectly well. I hope it comes out in tinted versions – I’d be on it, quicker than the human eye :-). It’s HERE.
