The New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor is a trade and logistics passage that has been jointly built by provincial-level regions of western China and Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). Since the launch of the service in April 2016, the freight service has seen a total of 12,161 truck trips delivering goods worth over 7.3 billion yuan to Southeast Asia, Central Asia, and South Asia, according to local media reports.
China’s New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor cross-border highways saw a robust growth in freight transport volume in January 2023. There was a significant increase in the number of trucks involved with a total of 488 trucks carrying goods worth 174.29 million yuan, as per government data. The freight service was launched in April 2016.
The freight service currently offers 11 highway routes to Southeast Asia, Central Asia, and South Asia, with more than 30 overseas distribution warehouses in operation in Southeast Asian countries including Laos, Thailand, and Vietnam. These highways provide a convenient and efficient way for companies to transport goods, contributing to the growth of the trade and logistics industry.
