Ruth E Carter has made history again by winning her second Oscar for Best Costume Design at the 95th Annual Academy Awards. Carter was recognised for her work on the Marvel sequel, ‘Wakanda Forever,’ and previously won the award for her work on the original ‘Black Panther’ film, becoming the first Black person to win the award for costume design.

Carter, in her 30-year plus film career, has over 40 films to her credit and is widely regarded as having mastered the look of multiple periods and genres in envisioning the clothing and overall appearance of a character or performer.

Carter was also previously nominated two times for the Academy Award for Best Costume Design, for her work on Spike Lee’s biographical film ‘Malcolm X’ (1992) and Steven Spielberg’s historical drama film ‘Amistad’ (1997).

Wakanda Forever is a 2022 superhero film, based on the Marvel Comics superhero Black Panther. The film is produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures.
