The powerful aroma and mouth-watering blast of coffee flavour are delightful. However, coffee is more than just a tasty beverage or a regular ritual for people. Health Shots got in touch with nutritionist Vidhi Chawla, founder of Fisico Diet Clinic, to know all the mistakes of drinking coffee.

Chawla says caffeine, one of the greatest energy drinks in the world, is a home energy booster to get us through the rough days in life. Coffee is a common source of caffeine and daily coffee consumption has a number of health advantages. You can actually lose weight with coffee. Even the risk of diseases like diabetes and heart disease may be reduced, according to research.

So to reap all these benefits of coffee, make sure you’re not making these coffee mistakes:

1. Overdose of caffeine

Caffeine is responsible for the stimulating benefits of coffee. While coffee can offer a temporary energy boost and assist enhance attention, taking too much of it might be damaging to your health. Excessive caffeine consumption increases the risk of sleeplessness, hypertension, and cardiac issues. So, limit your daily caffeine consumption to no more than three cups.

2. Not drinking enough water

Your body may produce more urine as a result of coffee, which could lead to dehydration. While staying properly hydrated throughout the day is essential, drinking enough water is particularly critical if you drink coffee. Dehydration has been associated with a range of detrimental health effects, such as fatigue, headaches, and impaired cognitive function. So, stay hydrated.

3. Using the wrong kind of beans

The quality and flavour of your coffee are determined not only by the process of preparing it, but also by the type of coffee beans you are using. So if you are using old coffee beans, you are endangering your health.

4. Adding whipped cream

Coffee is not hot chocolate to add whipped cream! Many people prefer to add cream to their coffee to enhance the flavour, but doing so can lead to weight gain and other detrimental health effects.

5. Adding excess sugar

You need to stop adding additional sugar to your coffee. It ought to be slightly sour. Stop putting more sugar in your coffee, please. It should have a faint sour taste. This can eventually result in a greater accumulation of fat, which may then develop into fatty liver disease, a contributor to diabetes, which increases your risk of heart disease. In fact, consuming excessive amounts of added sugar can promote chronic inflammation and blood pressure, both of which are major pathological paths to heart disease.

6. Drinking it very hot

Drinking hot beverages like hot water, tea, and coffee increases one’s risk of developing esophageal cancer, according to a recent study that is published in PubMed. Too-hot beverages can harm the esophagus and triple the risk of developing cancer. Let your coffee cool before drinking it to lower the risk.

7. Coffee before bed

Coffee is useful when you need to stay up all night. But it’s not a good idea to have coffee right before bed because it makes you drowsy and can give you headaches that turn into migraines, sadness, anxiety, and mood changes.

So, stop making these coffee mistakes and live a healthier life!
