Yes, you can actually maintain a healthy lifestyle by adding delicious and healthy food. To help you out, Health Shots reached out to Arpita B. Acharya who is a clinical nutritionist at Max Hospital in Panchsheel Park, New Delhi. Here’s what she has to say.
1. Munch on nuts
As it’s winter, one can munch mixed nuts along with fox nuts (makhana) as a snack, they are rich in omega 3 and 6, Vitamin E, and MUFA along with antioxidants and fibre. Rather than munching chips, we can munch homemade popcorn without butter. Mix all the nuts and seeds along with dates and make a topping on tart for a healthy dessert rather than having a muffin or cake with coffee, advises the nutritionist.
2. Include Indian gooseberry in your diet
Adding Indian gooseberry to your diet can be beneficial for your health. In winter, we find gooseberry (amla) in abundance, so we can make amla cadies which are rich in vitamin c and enhance immunity, says the expert. It also helps you detox, all the more reason to add it to your diet.

3. Give fries a twist
We didn’t want to be the bearer of bad news but your beloved french fries are not so healthy for you! Hot fried snacks feel welcoming, but they are unhealthy at the same time. So, either you can have a small portion, or you can switch over to healthy alternatives to French fries to remain healthy.
4. Switch the dip
The perfect condiment for snacks and party food, most sips are high in calories, salt and other additives. For snack dips or salad dressings, use fresh hung curd, hummus, or salsa as a base, rather than mayonnaise, thousand island dressing, or creams, suggest the expert. So, switch to these healthy alternatives to make sure you are not compromising on health this New Year.
5. Don’t forget to exercise
One of the most important things to keep in mind is exercise. Acharya highlights that one should choose to eat wisely but you still need to exercise to remain healthy and fit. When you’re physically fit, it helps improve your brain health, reduces the risk of diseases, strengthens your muscles and bones, and makes it easier for a person to do everyday activities with ease.
So, keep in mind these quick ways to avoid fried and oily food and make your New Year a bit healthier!
