GSO general director Nguyen Thi Huong said domestic petrol and oil prices had been adjusted for 34 times, increasing 28.01 per cent from a year earlier, while gas prices were up by 11.49 per cent, Vietnamese media outlets reported.
Vietnam’s consumer price index saw year-on-year growth of 3.15 per cent in 2022, while core inflation rose by 2.59 per cent, the General Statistics Office said. A surge in production demand to serve consumption and export coupled with soaring global commodity prices has fueled a rise in prices of goods and services, but they are still under control, it said.
Huong said the government has ordered ministries, sectors and localities to formulate timely policies and implement concerted measures to minimise the adverse impacts of inflation on socio-economic development.
